It is a question that a lot of people have asked me.  A DOR Wage Assignment means the Department of Revenue will take the child support directly out of the person that pays their check.

A suspended Wage Assignment means that the person receiving the money will get it directly from the person that is paying the money and this can be done through a check, electronic funds transfer, Venmo and it keeps the Department of Revenue out of the picture.

There are pros and cons for both. Having the Department of Revenue involved means that you will get it directly, but there can sometimes be lags in time and having bureaucracy involved it cannot always be in the party’s best interest.  Sometimes it is not possible to have DOR Wage Assignment, meaning it has to be taken directly out of somebody’s check depending upon what sort of employment they have.
