If I have been served with a restraining order what do I do?

You need to carefully look at the Order to make sure you did not violate the Order because if you did then you can be arrested and even have to go to jail.  It is important that you obey the order.

If the Order asks you to vacate the home and it allows you to remove personal property in the presence of a police officer, you should do so.  Again, with the police present, but make sure to read the Orders carefully.

You should also go to the court to make sure that you have all the paperwork including a copy of the Affidavit that the other person filed.  This will give you a better idea about why the Order was issued and give you the opportunity to go over it with an attorney to discuss what is true, not true or exaggerated.
