The DCF screener based on the allegation will either screened in or screened out the allegation after consulting with an intake supervisor.  If the case is screened out, this means that DCF is not doing an investigation and there is a good chance that a parent or a client does not know about intake.

If it is screened in, the intake department would determine whether it should be screened in for emergency response or non-emergency response depending on the allegations.  There can be an immediate referral to the DA’s office and if screened-in, what will then happen is it will be transferred to a DCF response worker who will complete an investigation regarding the report.
