You can hire an attorney to represent you.  At the Fair Hearing you can call witnesses and Subpoena the witnesses; you can get a copy of the DCF records, including the 51A and 51B.

The hearing is usually two hours or less in length at the local DCF office where the allegations were supported. Usually, there is the DCF Investigator and the Supervisor who will likely testify and testify first. You have the opportunity to ask questions; including through a lawyer. You are also able to present your own witnesses and testify yourself if you want.  The hearing is recorded and it is usually in a conference room with DCF, after the end of the hearing on the times you can have an attorney write a memo for you; and then DCF and the Fair Hearing Officer will take it under advisement and make a written decision that they will send back to you and that sometimes can take several months.

You do have the right to appeal that decision if it is remained supported and you can appeal it to Superior Court.
