COVID-19 – Juvenile Court Matters

In Juvenile Court based on the variety of different standing orders that are ordered in juvenile court only emergency matters listed are described below would be connected by a Judge by video conference or a telephone conference call without the physical person, other parties, attorneys or any members of the public.  Again, be conscious and speak to an attorney.

In emergency matters they are to be brought by video conference or teleconference.  This can include: Care and Protection matters; DCF hearings which can be a 72-hour hearing; or if the Judge grants temporary custody of the children to DCF it would be held by video or telephone unless the parties agree to waive the statutory part of the 72-hour hearing.  If circumstances such as one of the parties cannot participate in by video or phone conference or do not agree to continue the matter, there is a possibility of arrangements to occur in person or at a designated court location.

That would be a unique situation in terms of what I have seen but every court is different.
